On Monday, August 2, the staff and patients in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab were all smiles and full of cheer as they had a special birthday celebration for a very special patient, Clarence Campbell. With the help of staff and his Cardiac Rehab friends, Clarence walked into what he thought would be a normal day at rehab, but instead was surprised with cake, punch, and friends to celebrate his 97th birthday.

LMH achieves designation as level II special care nursery

While many newborns go home from the hospital with parents in a day or two after entering the world, some babies need a higher level of care. When this need becomes the reality for new parents, staying close to home and close to their babies is the highest priority. Logansport Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that its newly renovated, state-of-the-art Family Birth Center is now designated a Level II Obstetrical and Neonatal Special Care Nursery by the state of Indiana.

LMH eliminates screening at entrances; resumes normal visitation

As COVID-19 cases continue on a downward trend, thanks to vaccination efforts and the continued use of personal protective equipment (PPE), it is time to make changes once again to our Visitor Restrictions policy and our screening process at the entrances. The Indiana State Department of Health has recently issued new guidance for hospitals that allows us to return to pre-pandemic visitation in July, so that patients and families can be together as needed for support through ongoing health conditions and difficult situations.

This new technology is now the standard test for all women who make appointments for their annual screening mammograms at LMH. 3D mammography (also known as breast tomosynthesis) is clinically proven to significantly increase the detection of breast cancers, while simultaneously decreasing the number of women asked to return for additional testing.

Logansport Memorial Hospital takes great pride in using every opportunity to recognize the outstanding men and women who serve our patients and communities across the north central Indiana region. One specific opportunity to do that each year is during the nationally recognized Nurses Week and Hospital Week, which always coincide together around Florence Nightingale's birthday on May 12. This year, National Nurses Week is observed May 6-12 and National Hospital Week is observed May 9-15.
