Cass County Community Gardening Project kicks off

Thomas Henderson, Executive Director of the ACTS Project will be conducting an informational session on Wednesday, February 20 to discuss the Community Gardening effort of the Cass County Resource Network.

Community gardening takes place on a single piece of land and is collectively gardened by groups of people. Ivy Tech Community College and Logansport Memorial Hospital have offered space for this new community project.

Mr. Henderson will be sharing how community members and organizations can become involved in community gardening here in Cass County. The presentation will cover topics such as vegetable production in limited space and how the community gardening project will impact residents of Cass County.

“There are many benefits of community gardens,” commented Mr. Henderson. “Some of those include strengthening and beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious foods, reducing family food budgets and creating opportunity for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.”

To learn more about how to become involved in community gardening in Cass County, attend the Community Gardening presentation on February 20 at 6:00 pm at Logansport Memorial Hospital, 1101 Michigan Avenue, Conference Room DE or contact Thomas Henderson at 574-870-6966 or
