Community support making a huge impact at Logansport Memorial Hospital

If you've driven near the hospital in recent months, you've seen all the construction work that's been happening for our new Cancer Center! This construction project, combined with the upcoming renovation of our Obstetrics unit scheduled for 2018, is one of the largest capital improvement projects in Logansport Memorial Hospital's history and it has been well-received by many local businesses and significant individual donors. City and county officials have pledged their support as well, providing economic development funding that will assist the project through to completion. We love the support we've received from our Cass County Community and are excited to share more news about the project.

LMH Capital Campaign Construction Update

In researching the healthcare needs of our region, Logansport Memorial discovered that we had an opportunity to improve the high quality services currently offered for pregnant women and people suffering from all types of cancer. Logansport Memorial Hospital wants to meet this need with the best possible care and provide it close to home. Jan Packard, President of Wealth Management Solutions and Building for Generations Capital Campaign Chair agrees, "Excellent care to meet these needs in our community is a must. And the people we’ve been asking to donate money understand - they have been so generous and want to be a part of this project. It’s been very heartwarming to see how many local people are cheerfully giving significant money to this!"

About the Building for Generations Campaign

The Logansport Memorial Hospital Foundation is 80% of the way towards raising $750,000 to contribute toward the $7.4 million project that will construct a new cancer care center and renovate the existing LMH obstetrics unit. “We are focused on improving and expanding our community hospital, with specific attention to incorporating modernized designs and state-of-the-art equipment to create the best possible experience for our patients,” comments Perry Gay, President and CEO of Logansport Memorial Hospital. “I am so grateful to the businesses, individuals, physicians, hospital employees, and community officials who have seen our vision and embraced it with us by already giving generously to this campaign. I am hopeful that we have other individuals and families in the community who will feel inclined to also contribute to our efforts and show their support for our hospital. We pursue growth initiatives like this, with more to come over the next few years, so that we can provide the care our community needs close to home and help our patients reach the best possible health outcomes.”

Why support the campaign?

Here at Logansport Memorial, we like to say this campaign is about more than bricks. You might have even seen some of our employees wearing shirts that say that! This campaign will create centers that care for you, your family, friends and neighbors. This building campaign directly addresses known needs in our own community:

  • Cass County suffers from higher cancer rates than state and national averages.
  • Our region has an aging population and high number of smokers or former smokers.
  • Our Family Birth Center was last renovated in the 1980s.
  • Our region is in need of specialized maternity care with an upgraded birth experience.

These new health centers will be amazing resources for our entire community and they wouldn't be possible without the generous support from people throughout the Logansport area. Can you help us reach our goal? Donate now.
