Logansport Memorial Hospital is the only satellite campus in the northern part of Indiana that is now offering bariatric services in partnership with St. Vincent Bariatric Center in Carmel, Indiana. At Logansport Memorial Hospital, the pre-operative and post-operative exams are completed so that patients can receive the procedure. Patients come to the hospital from all over the northern region of Indiana, and also from out of state. They have traveled from as far as Chicago, South Bend, and several other cities to be seen here.
As part of the pre-operative medical clearance, Logansport Memorial provides ancillary services and a physical exam completed by Rose Mae Tantoco MD, who is the primary physician overseeing the care for these patients. After surgery, patients have the opportunity to return to the hospital and participate in support groups and individual counseling with Jessica Jones PSY.D, HSPP. She holds support group meetings in Conference Room DE on a variety of topics, and is available for individual counseling in Suite 230 of Medical Office Building West.
“We are pleased to provide these services for our patients,” explains David Ameen, President and CEO of Logansport Memorial Hospital. “Key partnerships like this with hospitals like St. Vincent deliver new opportunities for patients in our local area and in the regional area to receive the care they need from us. We are glad to be part of that process, because it means additional access to care for patients, and that’s something we strive to maintain.”
Physician referral is necessary to be part of this program, and physicians in the Logansport Memorial Physician Network do make these referrals. If you have questions about this program and its eligibility requirements, talk with your physician to explore what may be best for you.
There will also be an informational seminar on Wednesday, March 20 in Conference Room DE here at the hospital. If you are interested in just learning more about this program, you can attend without registering beforehand. The seminar will begin at 6 pm.
