The Mary Dykeman Guild of Memorial Hospital, Logansport, Indiana is awarding a one-time $250.00 scholarship in memory of Rita Bell, an active community participant and member of this organization. The recipient of this award must be a junior majoring in education who has graduated from one of the Cass County High Schools: Caston High School, Fulton, Indiana; Lewis Cass High School, Walton, Indiana; Logansport High School, Logansport, Indiana; or Pioneer High School, Royal Center, Indiana. The candidate must have a 3.0 grade point average.

Rita Bell, a Logansport native and a 1964 graduate of Logansport High School, graduated from Ball State with a BA and MS in Elementary Ed with a special education endorsement from Purdue. Rita taught Special Education at Hendricks and Fairview Schools before transferring to Columbia School to teach kindergarten. She retired from the Logansport School Corporation in 2000.
Rita was active in All Saints Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and chairing committees. She also served as treasurer and vice-president of the Board of Directors of Memorial Hospital Mary Dykeman Guild along with being an active volunteer in the Gift Shop.
