Wound Care Clinic now open at Logansport Memorial Hospital

Due to a growing need for specialized wound care in the healthcare market, Logansport Memorial Hospital has opened a satellite wound care clinic in partnership with St. Vincent Health St. Joseph Hospital on our campus. The “St. Joseph Hospital Wound Healing Center” will be available for patients on Thursdays from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm or by appointment. It will be staffed by Deborah Perkins Nurse Practitioner, for St. Vincent Health St. Joseph Hospital.

Providing wound care has become a growing challenge for hospitals around the country, and inpatient wounds can be expensive costs incurred per patient discharge. Specialized wound care is a focused, evidence-based approach to the treatment of chronic wounds. With this type of care, chronic conditions can be addressed that would impact wound healing. This approach to wound care is physician-driven, bringing providers and specialties together when necessary. They will be called upon to apply appropriate therapies at the proper time for individual patients with specific wounds.

“Being able to provide this service at Logansport Memorial is just one more way we are working to make sure our patients have what they need,” explains David Ameen, President and CEO. “This wound care clinic is a key piece of our integrated care approach. We always aim to meet the healthcare needs of our patients at any point in their lives. Through strategic partnerships like this one, we are better able to do that while still providing the care right here in our community.”
